  5. Clematis lanuginosa, may have vines 6 m (20 ft) long.  The

  10. K. amabilis, produces abundant clusters of small flowers in early
  11. spring. It is a member of the honeysuckle family and is native to

  22. ABOUT ACANTHUS (BEAR'S BREECHES):
  23. There are about 20 species of Acanthus.  They are perennial herbs
  24. and subshrubs, mostly of Mediterranean origin.  Typical flowers are
  25. white or purplish with large spike-tipped bracts.  Rich, well drained
  26. soils are best.  Due to their deep, thick roots some species can be
  27. difficult to move once established.

  29. Root cuttings are one means of propagation, and severed roots left
  30. in the ground may give rise to new plants.

  32. The Acanthus plant leant it's form to the ancient Greek Corinthian
  33. column capitals.

  35. We carry three types of Acanthus: their leaves are various shades
  36. of purple, and appear spiny.

  63. ABOUT ARCHILLEA (YARROW):
  64. Archillea, commonly called Yarrow, is a very easy to grow perennial.
  65. The archilleas can be very small or quite tall.  The dwarf archilleas
  66. are wonderful for rock gardens.  The tall varieties are known for
  67. their rich masses of flowers that appear from spring to mid-summer.
  68.  
  69. The Yarrow flowers lend themselves to drying and preserving.  They
  70. should be removed when they fade so the blooming period will be
  71. prolonged.

  73. Archillea are resistant to drought, and like full sun light.  They
  74. will tolerate poor soil, but do better when the soil is moist.  They
  75. should be divided about every four years to prevent crowding.

  121. ABOUT DELPHINIUM (LARKSPUR):
  122. Delphiniums are among the most popular flowers because of their
  123. amazing flowers.  Their tall spikes of flowers are shades of blue,
  124. white, reddish, or yellow.  Often the flowers have a contrasting
  125. color at the center, called a "bee."  They make excellent dried
  126. flowers.  The leaves are about 4" across, mainly at the bottom of
  127. the plant.

  129. Delphiniums are not hard to grow, although you will have to spend
  130. some effort.
  131.  
  132. They prefer sun and well fertilized moist soil.  If you cut back the
  133. stalks after the first flower they will often flower again.

  135. They like cool areas the best.
